Pragnesh Patel, M.D.
Pragnesh Patel, MD, is a highly-respected practitioner in gastrointestinal diseases and complex liver and pancreaticobiliary diseases at Houston Regional Gastroenterology Institute in Texas, treating patients in the Sugar Land and Humble clinics. 
He is proud to call Houston his second home; he was born in Surat, India, where he earned his medical degree from Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER).
A move to Houston, Texas, in 2010 began an intensive period of study for Dr. Patel. His post-graduate training at the world-renowned Texas Medical Center included a residency and fellowships. A residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston was followed by a move to Baylor College of Medicine for a fellowship in transplant hepatology, before finishing years of medical education with a fellowship in gastroenterology at Houston Methodist Hospital – Weill Cornell.
Dr. Patel became known during his training for publishing research articles in international journals and presenting at conferences. He keenly advocates an environment where patients are actively encouraged to engage with their care program.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Patel jets off to explore new countries with his family. He’s fluent in English, Hindi, and Gujarati, and is an avid and talented cricketer, even competing in tournaments during his college days. He’s also a firm believer in giving back to the community, and you’ll often find him volunteering in the local area.
